“Ferghana Valley Rural Enterprise Development" Project

EKVITA has initiated activities related to Human Capital Development component under the “Ferghana Valley Rural Enterprise Development" project financed by the World Bank in Uzbekistan.

On December 12, 2022, EKVITA’s partners from Zabala Innovation Consulting and Encompass Consulting have travelled to Fergana City to conduct the first training sessions in a hybrid format in a venue designated by the Agency for Innovative Development (former Ministry of Innovative Development). Following the opening remarks by the former Head of Management of Consolidated Information and Analytical Department of the Strategy for Innovative Development of the Ministry of Innovative Development (Farkhod Jumaev) and the Project Director (Margherita D’Urso), training sessions were delivered by the Master Trainer from Zabala Innovation Consulting – Aritz Goni. Throughout 3 days of offline training sessions, the representatives from incubation and innovation centers were trained on how to deliver support for potential start-uppers in the Ferghana Valley, Uzbekistan. These trainings were followed by 3-day online webinars conducted by three other Spanish experts.

On January 17, 2023, the Joint Venture’s local expert, Farkhad Jabbarov, have delivered the next trainings under the project in form of 4-day online training sessions. While the Joint Venture led by EKVITA intends to train 460 people, as of today, the total number of trained local incubation and acceleration staff, mentors and entrepreneurs reached around 60 individuals.

Meanwhile, the Joint Venture has been undertaking other activities relevant for the Acceleration Program that is expected to take place during the summer of 2023. For this purpose, with the help of EKVITA and its partners, the Start-up Competition was already launched by the Agency for Innovative Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
