This project was implemented under European Union Grant Program to help the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan to create mechanisms that would remove the barriers to RE investment by making the current legislative framework fit for purpose in order to give project developers, particularly from the private sector, sufficient comfort to move ahead with the development of RE projects. The overall objective of the contract is to increase energy generation from sustainable and green sources. The specific objectives of the assignment are to create a legislative framework that would foster bankable RE investments in Azerbaijan as well as increase energy outputs from renewable sources. It is expected that an increasing share of RE outputs will free volumes of natural gas currently used for thermal power generation and this natural gas will be usd instead for export as a natural resource.

The project is implemented under EU Grant on “Support for the development of the regions”. The overall objective of the project is to improve business environment and increase opportunities in the rural areas for the potential entrepreneurs. The project aims at assisting the Ministry of Economy in the development of policies, legal and regulatory environment pertaining to special economic zones (industrial cities and business incubators). The project aims at development of policies and tools (KPIs) for measuring the success of industrial cities/business incubators and their residents, i.e. start-ups and MSMEs, preparation of procedures for determination of economic sectors which have clustering potential, providing guidance on conducting feasibility study and cost-benefit analysis for selected industrial cities/business incubators as well as on distribution of industrial enterprises in various economic regions, conducting capacity building and awareness raising for the Ministry of Economy.

EKVITA's project "Support to the Development of Local Technology Startups" which was implemented jointly with the German company STEINBEIS GMBH & CO.KG is expected to be completed by the end of this year. At the initiative of the project, it is planned to create startup hubs for the development of startups in universities and other centers. Initiated by the Asian Development Bank in the first quarter of 2021, the Local Technology Startup Development Assistance Project will support the development of the ecosystem, as well as strengthening local institutional capacity to support the development of startups in the regions of Azerbaijan. The project envisages technical support for technological startups and innovative entrepreneurship ecosystems in Ganja city and Shamakhi region. Thus, in Ganja and Shamakhi, cooperation activities are carried out to identify opportunities for the growth of technological startups, to conduct diagnostic research and exchange information. The Innovation Center under the State Agency for Civil Service and Social Innovation under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan (through INNOLAND, which belongs to the Innovation Center), Ganja State University, Azerbaijan University of Technology and Azerbaijan State Agrarian University are participating in the project. Following a request from the Government of Azerbaijan, the European Union financed a project “Supporting regulatory framework for improving the business environment” with an output to facilitate the drafting of the National Export Strategy. The specific purpose of the strategy is to “To double non-oil exports of Azerbaijan by 2025 compared with 2020 through increased exports of high quality, value-added products by developing a sound internationally linked quality infrastructure and conducive business environment for all, large and SME". Planet SA as contractor together with Ekvita will help in the delivery of the following component  in the project:  • Component 1: Establishing and operationalizing a system for effective coordination and monitoring of non-oil export• Component 2: Strengthening the institutional and service delivery capacity of AzPromo • Component 3: Aligning Quality Infrastructure system with the international standards to ensure recognition of quality and acceptance of export products

EKVITA has been awarded together with Steinbeis GmbH & Co.KG  an Asian Development Bank-financed project on Technology Transfer aimed to support and strengthen the tech start-up and innovative entrepreneurship ecosystem in Ganja and Sheki. The major deliverable of the project will be:a) Strengthening environment for regional technical startupsb) Improvement of local institutional set-up for tech startupsc) Development of international knowledge partnership

Cooperation Agreement was signed between Innovation Agency under the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan, EKVITA, “AGRIBIOEKOTEX” LLC, “TRENDTECH” LLC and “FRUCTUS” LLC on 13th of February, 2020. The goal is to contribute to the agricultural industry, which directly affects the economy of the country and to carry out joint activities to introduce environmentally friendly, biological pesticides, minerals and other fertilizers on test fields. Innovation Agency will serve as a center of cooperation, EKVITA will provide both consulting and training services.
