Implementation of Special Economic Zones (SEZ)
Leading the project on development and implementation of special economic zones in Azerbaijan. Project involves identification of prospective industrial cities and business clusters, drafting of full legislative framework and capacity building of respective public institutions.



Tax & Finance Management
Helped dozens of companies in ensuring their internal tax compliance and developing financial management systems. We are acting as fully outsourced tax and finance compliance function for a number of our local and international clients.
Legal Expert in US and UK Courts
Represented the largest commercial bank of Azerbaijan in recognition of debt restructuring case in US and UK courts. Ekvita also acted as legal expert, foreign legal counsel and legal witness in several other international commercial cases.



Islamic Finance Expertise
Prepared full suite of documentation for the establishment of the first Islamic insurance (Takaful) company in Azerbaijan. Additionally, advised several banks in Azerbaijan on several other products of Islamic finance (Murabaha, Vakala, Ijaraah etc).
Legal Approximation with EU Acquis
Assisted the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan in preparation of full suite of legislative instruments relating to solid waste management with a view to align Azerbaijan’s legal and institutional setup with EU standards. The project is implemented as part of the World Bank’s financial support to Integrated Solid Waste Management project.



Legislative Drafting
Proposed legal and institutional recommendations and drafted model laws and regulations relating to food safety control in Azerbaijan. Th project is implement as part of EU’s support for the development of responsible food control systems.
Enterprise Development Program (EDP) sponsored by BP and its co-venturers
As an exclusive implementing partner of EDP, Ekvita assists local companies to improve their capability to supply the oil and gas and other industries in Azerbaijan. We analyse companies’ technical and commercial gaps, design customized development plan, and provide targeted assistance by engaging local and international experts.



Developing Compliance Function
We helped dozens of companies, both local and international, to establish internal business ethics and compliance systems. Using international standards and methodologies, we implement robust business ethics systems and provide A-to-Z compliance solutions. We also act as external compliance function for many organisations and clients.
Experience in the Oil & Gas
Representing largest international Oil & Gas operators such as BP, Statoil and Petronas on miscellaneous aspects of law and taxation, including corporate re-structuring issues, regulatory compliance, PSA and JOA matters, complex drilling contracts (including multi-rig contract), migration and labour issues, complex litigations.



Drafting and Negotiating PSA for Mining Project
Acted legal counsel for a foreign investor in preparing and negotiating a Production Sharing Agreement with respect to onshore mining field in Nakhchivan region of Azerbaijan.
